I don't think this would be a true college student's blog if it didn't have a lil' somethin' somethin' about finals! Thankfully, this isn't finals week but I'm sure you can all feel what it's like to have Dooms Day approaching slowly and inevitably. For a few of you, this is your first semester and you haven't experienced what finals at BYU are like. In all honesty, it's only as bad as you make it. If you like to stress and freak yourself out, you'll have a miserable week. So think about that. If you are confident, give yourself adequate time for EFFECTIVE studying and plan out your week well, you'll be fine. Don't try and cram nor keep yourself up too late. The only thing you'll do is wear your brain out and it won't perform well. Go to review sessions, study in groups, try and teach others about your class, make flash cards, and look for other opportunities to apply what you learn in your classes. These are some of the most effective ways to study. Don't fool yourself like I do sometimes where you just stare at the material hoping that it'll just morph into your brain, it won't!
I hope this helps you at least a little so you'll make it through finals week. Just remember, you'll survive, your professors aren't out to get you although it may feel that way sometimes. Take it easy and good luck on those wee finals!
